Fall Driving Tours

Blog by Susan Brown | November 16th, 2014

Fall driving tours in Muskoka are popular and with good reason. There’s a seemingly endless network of roads to explore as well as small, charming towns to visit, all set against the backdrop of the great Algonquin wilderness. What are you waiting for? It’s time to grab a map (maps are available online), get behind the stirring wheel, and go for a scenic drive.

Gateway to Muskoka and Beyond

This 59-mile drive takes you around Lake Muskoka and takes you through the idyllic towns of Bala, Post Carling, Bracebridge, and Gravenhurst. From Milford Bay, you can see the famous Huckleberry Rock. Be prepared to spend a minimum of one hour to a maximum of 3 hours to complete the whole tour.

Muskoka’s Heart

Known as “The Grand Tour”, the Muskoka’s Heart driving tour will allow you to take in the sights of Lake of Bays and Huntsville. This tour takes 4-6 hours and is around 152 miles long. This may seem like a bit of a drive, but the views are definitely worth it.

Past and Future

History buffs are going to love this tour. The Past and Future tour is approximately 68 miles long and can take you an average of 2 hours to finish. Starting in Huntsville, you’ll get to stop along several historic sites such as Muskoka Heritage Place, Dyer Memorial, and Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery.

Muskoka’s Playground

Also known as the Lake Rosseau Circle tour, this 43-mile long route begins in Port Carling and takes you through the towns of Ullswater, Rosseau, Minett, and Port Sandfield. You’ll get to see the Port Carling Wall, a photo-mosaic consisting of more than 9,000 small photos to form the picture of RMS Sagamo. This tour only takes one to 2 ½ hours to complete, leaving you with ample time to go on other tours.
